Most charitable giving solves an immediate need. That matters, but when the gift is spent, the support ends. Waqf offers a different model.
What is Waqf?
Waqf is a form of endowment in which an asset is set aside so that its benefits serve the public over time. Rather than limiting philanthropy to one-time assistance, Waqf can create assets whose benefits continue for years, and in many cases for generations.
Giving can create an asset. An asset can create generations of benefit.
KIAF’s Waqf focus
KIAF is exploring Waqf as a mechanism for sustainable social investment. Our Waqf work will support areas such as:
- Education
- Scholarships
- Healthcare
- Community infrastructure
- Livelihoods
- Research
- Social development

Our goal is simple: to connect philanthropy with sustainability. As the Foundation develops this work, we will report openly on how Waqf resources are managed and what they achieve.
